Kid's Auto Races

Kid's Auto Races was filmed in Venice, Ca. on January 10, 1914, but was not released until February 7, 1914. The film shows Charlie playing to the camera as he begins development of the Tramp character. He doesn't have all the moves down, but you can see that he has really latched onto something quite unique!! There is some confusion whether Kid's Auto Races or Mabel's Strange Predicament was the first film where Charlie appears in his Tramp outfight. Based on the actual film date, I would conclude the folks in Venice, on January 10th, were the first to view Charlie as The Tramp.
